Community High School (CHS), Nanka Fencing Project Report
Let me start by thanking you for donating generously to this community project. Your support of Nanka School Project (NSP) over the years has enabled us to touch many lives in Nanka and surrounding areas. Please accept my deepest appreciation for your kindness and compassion towards the less privileged in our town, Nanka.
It was in January of 2020 when we got the original estimate of $10,496 to complete the school fence. As we were about to start fundraising, the Coronavirus pandemic struck and negatively impacted the global economy. As a result, we had to delay our fundraising efforts.
The fencing project at CHS-Nanka started in January 2021, and the price of materials as well as labor has increased. For instance, we spent $1,085 to clear bushes on the boundary instead of $830 which was the original estimate.
Item | Original Estimate | Actual Cost |
|---|---|---|
Bag of cement | $6 | $8 |
Tipper of sand | $22 | $33 |
Stone | $54 | $76 |
Overview
Amount donated by Nanka people in North America and United Kingdom: $5,651
Amount donated by Nanka Forum Members: $460
Total amount from Nanka Community: $6,111
Total spent on the project: $12,930
Area covered: 482 meters
The difference of $6,819 ($12,930 - $611) was funded through NSP reserve, close family members and NSP supporters.
In the process of addressing the fence problem, two others emerged: flood water and toilet. We have addressed the flood problem with 7 big catchment pits and gutters to channel water to the pits. This means that flood water from the school can no longer destroy neighbor’s crops. Flood control cost of $870 is included in the total cost of fencing.
Thanks again for your unwavering support of Nanka School Project.
Chinyere Akoh, NSP Founder.
